Plot
Retiring Detective Lt. William Somerset (Morgan Freeman) has began to train his replacement David Mills (Brad Pitt) when a serial killer named John Doe (Kevin Spacey) begins killing people. The detectives, both with opposite investigating styles, work together on a series of ritualistic murders inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins. The killer justifies his crimes as absolution for the world's ignorance of the Seven Deadly sins and punishes various sinners by killing them. Somerset and Mills researche the Seven Deadly Sin in an effort to understand the killer's m.o.
Why is this one of my favourite movies?
Kevin Spacey, Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman are all some of my favourite actors. I also love a good suspenseful police movie! Also I felt that Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt have great chemistry on scene and the difference between their personalities makes for a entertaining relationship.
Here is the ending scene where Brad Pitt says his famous "what's in the box" line. The ending to Se7en is one of the best movie endings I have ever seen. It is so intelligent, filled with suspense and great acting. By far the best scene in the whole movie and one of the best movie endings I have ever watched.
